Episdoe 8 alumni Heidi Ackerman has spent the last few months holed up in her studio meticulously crafting costumes for an underground opera company, Opera Erratica. Opera Erratica is a multi-disciplinary company that creates thrilling, genre-crossing performances, from avant-garde stagings of classical opera to original sci-fi rock-ballets.
The costumes she created are for their most recent production, Orlando Lunaire.

The Dazzle, a study and celebration of collection fetishism, is a group show at Narwhal Art Projects running from September 9 – October 17, with an opening reception on September 9 from 7-10pm. Dan Bergeron, featured in Episode 12, is having a show at Show & Tell Gallery, which hosted Episode 7, from September 10th-October 3rd. Faces of the City will feature original photo-based, mixed media assemblages as well as a selection of editioned photo prints featuring the artist’s street installations. Check the Facebook invite for more information.
The LNB mobile unit got out on the town this past Saturday to hit up 52 McCaul’s closing show and party. Among the throngs of supporters, ruby cheeked volunteers and nostalgic artists we were able to catch up with Steve and Lisa from Well and Good (featured guests on Episode 3), who began operating the space following The Manifesto Festival ‘09. Over the course of the last year, Steve and Lisa have worked furiously to promote the interests of young artists and art enthusiasts, encourage discussion and provide an accessible and professional gallery to showcase the talent in this city.
LNB has been lucky enough to work with the gallery on two separate occasions; the first, mentioned above, was for episode three. And more recently we filmed Episode 10 in the main floor space.
As the Well and Good organization looks towards the future they’ve decided to decentralize their operations slightly and move on without the building in tow. Though you might be sad at this closing-of-doors, you should know that Steve and Lisa are getting all pumped up to hit the scene post-gallery. In no way have you seen the last of these guys.
As one attendee of the night’s festivities put it “they have a contagious enthusiasm for people and for collaboration”…
BlogTO wrote a glowing review of our Season Finale. Above is the final act YAMANTAKA//SONIC TITAN (photo by Rory Burns).
Season 1 has come to a close, which means that all you Carey Wass fanboys and fangirls will have to wait a whole ‘nother month to catch him in action hosting the show. But wait! He’s performing in hit Summerworks show Ride the Cyclone, at the Passe Muraille Mainspace until August 15th! The show is incredible, and we’re not just saying that – check out what the Toronto Star, The Globe and Mail, Now Magazine, and Plank have to say about the show. If you see one show this festival, make it Ride the Cyclone, and see Carey at his unrestrained, gangsta-rapping, Russian-dancing best.
Thank you to everyone who made it out to the Toronto Underground Cinema last night – it was so nice to meet you all and hear about what you guys are up to. If you’re interested in appearing on the show, helping us out, or want any further information on any of the artists, contact us at latenightinthebedroom(at)gmail.com.
Thank you to Jack Dylan, Dan Bergeron, Nick Di Genova, Forest City Lovers, Summerworks, Laurie and Kieran, Matt and Jay, and Yamantaka Sonic Titan for providing the evening’s entertainment, to the Cinema for providing the awesome venue, and to YOU for supporting the show for one glorious year.
Don’t forget to check out Episode 11, and watch this space for information about Season 2!
Hey Guys and Gals,
This is our brand spanking new blog! On it, we’ll be posting upcoming events by artists in and around Toronto, all kinds of amazing projects, cool art stuff we see, music we like and places we go. The blog will be written by various personalities within the LNB Collective as well as the odd guest contributor.
So keep checking back for updates and news!
As our first blog post, we thought it would be fitting to feature the letter we recently received from Olivia Chow. We cordially invited her to our Episode 12 Season Finale Extravangaza, but she is sadly, unable to attend. Please don’t let this lower your spirits… you can purchase tickets to the events for 5 bucks at Soundscapes on College or hit up our email. For $5 you’ll get all access to the live audience filming at the Toronto Underground Cinema, with special guests The Forest City Lovers, Jack Dylan, Dan Bergeron and Yamantaka // Sonic Titan, with a special screening of our studio visit with Nicholas Di Genova.
