Episdoe 8 alumni  Heidi Ackerman has spent the last few months holed up in her studio meticulously crafting costumes for an underground opera company, Opera Erratica. Opera Erratica is a multi-disciplinary company that creates thrilling, genre-crossing performances, from avant-garde stagings of classical opera to original sci-fi rock-ballets.

The costumes she created are for their most recent production, Orlando Lunaire.

LNB has been lucky enough to work with the gallery on two separate occasions; the first, mentioned above, was for episode three. And more recently we filmed Episode 10 in the main floor space.

As the Well and Good organization looks towards the future they’ve decided to decentralize their operations slightly and move on without the building in tow. Though you might be sad at this closing-of-doors, you should know that Steve and Lisa are getting all pumped up to hit the scene post-gallery. In no way have you seen the last of these guys.

As one attendee of the night’s festivities put it “they have a contagious enthusiasm for people and for collaboration”…

Summerworks is Toronto’s indie theatre and arts festival and is now in its 20th year. We’ve picked two of the best plays of the 42 featured in this year’s programming: Theory, which questions how to remain progressive when progress becomes dangerous, and is showing August 5-15 at the Lower Ossington Theatre, and All of Him, an interactive, live biography of a jovial father with a dark past, being performed from August 6-15 at the Passe Muraille Backspace. Adam does people-watching better than the rest of us, cleverly snapping candid photographs that look artfully staged. His photos are touching, human portraits that cause the viewer to think about the story behind the person who a moment ago was just another face on the street.
